Welcome to Betty’s Club
Community, Friendship and Wellbeing
Betty’s Club is a dementia support community dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Through connection, creativity and compassion, we provide a safe and welcoming space where relationships are valued and every individual is supported.
Support for Carers and Families
Through life story gathering, member-led activities, carers’ learning workshops and research, we build meaningful relationships with our members. This helps people feel more connected, supported and part of a truly inclusive community.
Evidence shows that our approach reduces stress, supports the development of new friendships and improves the wellbeing of everyone involved.
A good life means having strong, positive relationships, a sense of purpose and meaning with physical and mental wellbeing.
Even in dementia, good mental wellbeing is possible.
A good life includes staying connected with loved ones, engaging in meaningful activities, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
Ultimately, a good life with dementia is about adapting and finding joy in the present, while also planning for the future.
Why Community Matters in Dementia Care
At Betty’s Club, members thrive through connection, activity and care.
We are an inclusive, relationship-centred charity where every person feels valued and everything we do is shaped by individual stories, needs and preferences.
Whether you are living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or offering your time as a volunteer, you’ll find a welcoming space here to be yourself and to belong because real care is something we create together.
How We Support People Living With Dementia
- A welcoming indoor and outdoor space where members can connect, contribute and feel a sense of belonging
- Activity sessions designed for members interests and abilities
- Emotional, social, and practical support, guidance and learning opportunities for family carers
- Meaningful volunteer roles, with ongoing training and support
Our Relationship-Centred Approach
At Betty’s Club, our relationship-centred approach places people at the heart of everything we do.
Through our interactive learning and support programme for carers and volunteers, we are guided by our WITH values:
Wellbeing, Involvement, Thoughtfulness and Hope
We support carers to connect, learn, and share their experiences, while mentoring volunteers to become confident, skilled facilitators of compassionate, relationship-based dementia care.
Real Stories, Real Impact
“It was wonderful to hear dementia described as a life situation rather than an illness.” Carer member
“There were helpful techniques which other members would also have found useful as we all need support.” Carer member
“Caring seems such an everyday thing, so I was glad to be able to talk about how it feels.” Carer member
