Welcome to Betty’s Club
A club offering Friendship and Community and Wellbeing
At Betty’s Club, we believe life with dementia should still be full of joy, purpose and connection.
We’re a warm and inclusive meeting place in Burnham Market, where people living with dementia or cognitive impairment—and those who care for them—can relax, take part, and feel truly valued.
This is more than just a club. It’s a community rooted in respect, laughter, and everyday moments that matter.
Creating a safe space for people and families affected by dementia
Betty’s Club is a community meeting centre and sensory garden adjacent Burnham Market Surgery, designed for people with mild to moderate dementia and their families.
Through our life story gathering, meaningful activities, carer workshops and volunteer training, shaped by our WITH framework and workshops, we help people feel less isolated, more supported and part of something joyful.
Evidence shows our model reduces carer stress, builds new friendships, and improves wellbeing for everyone involved.
At Betty’s Club, members thrive through connection, activity and care
Betty’s Club is more than a meeting place. We’re a thriving, inclusive community, where people living with dementia and their families can feel seen, heard, and valued. Everything we do is shaped by our members’ stories, needs and preferences.
Whether you’re living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or offering your time as a volunteer, you’ll find space here to be yourself and to belong.
We offer:
- Personalised member activity sessions, chosen by and for our members
- A welcoming activity space indoors and outdoors
- Emotional, social and practical support and guidance for family carers
- Volunteer roles with meaningful training and support
- Regular opportunities to contribute and connect with others
Because real care is never one-way — it’s something we create together.
WITH BETTY’S Workshops – Building Better Dementia Care
WITH BETTY’S is our interactive learning and support programme for carers and volunteers, underpinned by our WITH values:
Wellbeing, Involvement, Thoughtfulness, and Hope.
We aim for a learning ecosystem where people grow together through shared experience, resilience-building, and emotional support.
🧰 We support carers to learn, building their resilience and engagement through connection and sharing.
👥 We mentor volunteers through our relationship centred programme to become confident, skilled facilitators.
💬 Every stakeholder plays a part in relational, person-centred care.
Real Stories, Real Impact
“It was wonderful to hear dementia described as a life situation rather than an illness.” – Carer member
“There were helpful techniques which other members would also have found useful as we all need support.” – Carer member
Get Involved
Whether you have a few hours to spare or a lifelong connection to dementia care, there’s a place for you at Betty’s Club.
Volunteer with Us
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do – welcoming members, leading activities, and simply being there. We’ll support you with training in dementia communication, regular check-ins, and opportunities to co-lead sessions and workshops. No experience is needed – just warmth and a willingness to listen and learn from our members.
Make a Gift
Your donation helps keep our club running and our members supported. Every gift, no matter the size, enables us to provide meaningful activities, carer workshops, and resources that make a real difference.
Partner with Us
We collaborate with local organisations, artists, musicians and more. If you’d like to be part of a club with shared values, we’d love to hear from you.
It only takes one step to become part of a community that lifts people up—together.
The measure of a good life is not necessarily its duration but its richness of experience
A good life means having strong, positive relationships, a sense of purpose and meaning and good physical and mental wellbeing.
Even in dementia, good mental wellbeing is possible. A good life with dementia for a person living with it means maintaining a sense of self, staying engaged, with person-centered support that focuses on their wellbeing and individual needs. This includes staying connected with loved ones, engaging in meaningful activities, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Ultimately, a good life with dementia is about adapting and finding joy in the present, while also planning for the future.
